Purchasing and Maintaining Swimsuits

Purchasing and Maintaining Swimsuits

In summer, those who love swimming can't wait to get into the water. First, dig out last year's swimsuit to see if it is still suitable. If it is very old or deformed, it means that you have neglected its maintenance. So, why not purchase a new swimsuit for yourself in the new year? There are many brands of swimsuits on the market at present, but the quality varies greatly, resulting in different prices. The quality of swimsuits is directly related to the durability and comfort of wearing.

Shopping skills
Stretching: test the resilience of the swimsuit. The spandex content in swimsuit fabrics which is high has good resilience. When purchasing, you should check the content on the tag. It is best to buy a swimsuit with a spandex content higher than 15%, so that the swimsuit can move with the body during exercise. The other main component of swimsuits is nylon or polyester. Swimsuits made of nylon fiber will have better elasticity, but the cost of nylon is higher than that of polyester, so be careful not to buy low-quality swimsuits at high prices.

The national standard GB 73010-2010 for swimsuits stipulates that the vertical tensile elastic elongation of qualified swimsuits should be greater than and equal to 80%, and the transverse should be greater than and equal to 70%. The vertical and transverse elastic elongation of good-quality swimsuits should be greater than and equal to 120% and 100%. The tensile elastic recovery rate in chlorinated water (swimming pool water) can be much lower than that of the former. The vertical and horizontal elastic elongation of qualified products is required to be greater than and equal to 60%.

Visual inspection: due to the characteristics of the use environment, there are higher requirements for printing, color and lustre of swimsuits. When purchasing, it is necessary to carefully observe whether there are obvious printing defects, such as lacking printing, color matching and exuded patterns. Swimsuits made of high-quality dyes can withstand sun exposure and seawater immersion, ensuring that they will not change color for a long time. Swimsuits with poor quality may have issues with color fastness after wearing them only a few times.

Maintenance
Affected by the use environment, swimsuits are usually very easy to deteriorate, but the correct maintenance method can effectively prolong their service life.

Before swimming: Make sure the swimsuit is clean and hygienic. If you feel the swimsuit is wet or humid before wearing it, it is recommended to choose a dry one, because the swimsuit is easily infected with bacteria in a humid environment. In summer, various bacteria increase with the temperature and humidity. It is recommended to wet the swimsuit with clean water before entering the water, which can reduce the corrosive effect of swimming pool water or sea water.

In swimming: avoid friction with hard and rough ground or walls, and chemicals such as sun oil or sunscreen are best not to come into contact with swimsuits.

After swimming: immediately wash the attachments on the swimsuit with clean water, and do not use washing powder and bleach. It is best to wash by hand. Avoid using a dry-cleaning machine. Do not dry the swimsuit by twisting it. You can use a dry towel to absorb too much water, wringing is easy to cause deformation. Dry the swimsuit in a shady and cool place, and then dry it properly in the sunlight to kill the mold. However, it should not be exposed to the sun for a long time, which will easily lead to damage to the resilience.
