Types of the Bikini

Types of the Bikini

(1) Bandeaukini refers to any bikini that has a bandeau top. Its attractiveness is growing rapidly among young women. And the bikini with bandeau top edging is sold as a classic one. This type of bikini is also called bandini.

(2) Microkini is a skimpy bikini. Men's ones are used only enough cloth to cover their genitals, while women's ones have additional cloth to cover their nipples. Extra straps are only used to keep the bikini attached to the human body. Some variants of microkini use adhesive or wire to ensure that the cloth can cover the genitals. Users of microkini only need to abide by moral laws, which fills a niche between nudism and conservative swimsuit.

(3) Monokini refers to any topless one-piece bikini. The extreme version of the monokini is a thong-style bikini, which exposed the private parts. It was designed by Rudi Gernreich in 1985.

(4) Skirtini is characterized by a bikini top and a small skirt bottom. It is a bikini with more coverage.

(5) Technically speaking, a sling bikini is one-piece. The side straps on the bottom of the bikini extend upwards to cover the breasts and go over the shoulders or are around the neck, while the second set of straps pass around the abdomen (also called pretzel bikini or pretzel swimsuit). It is known as a mankini when worn by a man.

(6) String bikini is named after its design. Two triangular fabrics are connected at the groin instead of at the sides.

(7) A tankini is a combination of a tank top and a bikini bottom. Tankini is made by  spandex-and-cotton or Lycra-and-nylon.

(8) Trikini, first appeared in 1967, is defined as "a handkerchief and two small dishes". In the 1990s, the trikini reappeared as a bikini bottom with a stringed halter of two triangular pieces covering the breasts. However, it became three independent parts in the early 20th century. The bikini top is basically two independent parts. It is sold in three-piece suit. Its variant is a strapless bikini which usually consists of two pasties and a thong-style bikini bottom.
